چکیده

Few reports are found in the literature concerning the use of aureomycin in animal disease therapy. McCullough, Kiser, and Migaki (1949) and Easterbrooks (1950) have reported beneficial results in the treatment of staphylococcic mastitis of cattle. Prier (1950) reported that aureomycin was effective in the treatment of experimental Pasteurelka multocida infections of chickens. Little (1948) reported that aureomycin was effective in treating mice experimentally infected with Erysipelothrix rhu8iopathiae. Fifteen mg per kg of body weight per day injected intraperitoneally gave 80 per cent protection against lethal doses of the organism. It is the purpose of this paper to present additional experimental evidence on the effect of aureomycin against E. rhu8iopathiae and to compare its activity with that of penicillin and of streptomycin. Penicillin has been found effective against experimental and naturally occurring turkey erysipelas (Gifford and Jungherr, 1946; Grey, 1947 a,b) and is the treatment now recommended for this disease.

Isolation of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae from aborted lambs in Iran: A case report

Ewe abortion and neonatal mortality are serious problems to sheep farmer. The objective of this paper was to report isolation of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae from aborted fetuses in a flock in Tehran, Iran. Abortion occurred in 10% of ewes in the flock. The fetuses were well developed and pinpoint, necrotic-like lesions were recorded on the placental cotyledons, whilst the inter -cotyledonary a...

Endocarditis associated with Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae in a fat-tailed ram

Endocarditis is rarely reported in sheep and information presented for ovine endocarditis is based mostly on comparative findings in the cattle. Infective vegetative endocarditis of the right heart was diagnosed in a 3-year-old fat-tailed ram. Clinical findings included tachycardia, marked brisket edema, jugular veins distention and pulsation and pale mucous membranes. Hematologic abnormality i...

Isolation and Detection of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae and Its Distribution in Humans and Animals by Phenotypical and Molecular Methods in Ahvaz-Iran in 2015

Background: Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae (E. rhusiopathiae) is generally transmitted into the gastrointestinal tract of animals by the intake of contaminated food or water and causes great economic loss in agriculture worldwide. Some of the Erysipelothrix spp. are the causative agents of erysipeloid, which is an occupational infection in humans. The aim of the present study was to isolate E. rh...

Immunostimulatory effects of recombinant Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae expressing porcine interleukin-18 in mice and pigs.

Interleukin-18 (IL-18), which was originally called gamma interferon (IFN-γ)-inducing factor, has been shown to play an important role in innate and acquired immune responses. In this study, attenuated Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae strains were engineered to produce porcine IL-18 (poIL-18) and evaluated for their potential immunostimulatory effect in animals. Recombinant poIL-18 was successfully...
